Elizabeth Wathuti
Environmentalist and climate activist
Elizabeth Wathuti is an environmentalist and climate activist from Kenya. She is the founder of Green Generation Initiative (GGI) and the Head of Campaigns and coordinator of Daima coalition for the protection of urban green spaces at the Wangari Maathai Foundation. At COP26, she served as the Global South Youth Co-chair for the COP26 Civil Society and Youth Advisory Council. She also addressed world leaders at the World Leaders Summit opening ceremony at COP26 in Glasgow with a speech that went viral. Elizabeth is a youth council member of the International Reserva: The Youth Land Trust and has received the Wangari Maathai Scholarship Award, The Diana International Award, Africa Green person of the year award, young climate champion award by the Global Climate Fund and the Commonwealth Youth Awards. Elizabeth was named to the TIME100 Next list of the world’s most influential people in 2022.
