Sydney Males
International Relations (MA)
My name is Sydney Males, I am a Kichwa Otavalo woman, indigenous from the north of Ecuador. Currently, I have completed my master's degree in International Relations with a specialization in Negotiation and International Cooperation. I have conducted qualitative research on the situation of indigenous peoples, extractivism, indigenous women's human rights and climate justice from the territory. I have also done activism within my community as well as in collaboration with the Amazonian peoples of Ecuador.
I am secretary of environment and education of the Kichwa Otavalo Cabildo. I founded a collective called Wallpay Crew with Kichwa youth from the Ecuadorian highlands. Now I am working as a consultant for the HAKHU Amazon Foundation and also for the Black Indigenous Liberation Movement (BILM).
