Job Description

EXTREME HANGOUT PR AND MARKETING INTERNSHIP

 

Do you care deeply about the environment, want to reverse climate change, are you aware of the UN SDGS and interested in the COP gatherings? The EXTREME Hangout is seeking a social media intern to help grow our social media channels and further spread awareness about environmental sustainability.

 

The ideal intern needs to have three things:

 

 

1. Be a dynamic self-starter and a fast learner.

2. Strong organisational and admin skills, be familiar with standard office software, a good communicator, be happy to build and lead a development email campaign, support the senior team, be quick and responsive on email.

3. An interest in the environment. Has watched Don't Look Up, follows Earthrise, might have Ministry of the Future on their reading list, wants to know more about Elizabeth Wathuti, and picks up litter when they visit the beach.

The Extreme Hangout is a platform to give young changemakers a voice on the environment. This short video will give you a flavour COP Recap Video.

 

We launched the Extreme Hangout at COP26 in Glasgow, took it to COP27 in Egypt, then COP28 in Dubai and are now making plans for COP29 in Azerbaijan, alongside a podcast and global event series. Our goal is to help shift the climate dial, by shaking up the climate conversation, popularising the movement and inspiring environmental action. Over the last two years we have worked with 300 speakers, 8000 visitors, 500,000 watchers, 5m audience and had a press reach of 100m.

 

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

 

As our PR and Marketing Intern, you'll play a vital role in amplifying the message of Extreme Hangout and reaching new audiences. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience in the world of sustainability communications, working alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

 

THE INTERNSHIP IS 6 MONTHS LONG WITH A POSSIBILITY OF BIENG EXTENDED.

THE INTERNSHIP ONLY COVERS BASIC EXPENSES e.g., Internet, a cable, mouse etc.

FULLY REMOTE INTERNSHIP

SUITABLE FOR STUDENTS/RECENT GRADUATES WHO ARE CREATIVE AND WITH A PASSION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF MARKETING AND PR PRINCIPLES.

What you will be helping with:

 

• Assist in the planning and execution of The EXTREME Hangout event marketing efforts.

• Help create and manage social media content that promotes The EXTREME Hangout.

• Draft and edit marketing materials, including email campaigns, newsletters, and flyers.

• Assist with website and PR related matters.

• Conduct research on industry trends and competitor analysis.

• Develop an understanding of our target audience and assist in creating strategies to engage them.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive messaging and branding.

We are looking for someone who has:

 

• A strong interest in environmental sustainability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Is a Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Experience with social media platforms, such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

• Undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in college.
