Job Description

EXTREME Hangout Social Media Internship

 

Do you care deeply about the environment, want to reverse climate change, are you aware of the UN SDGS and interested in the COP gatherings? The EXTREME Hangout is seeking a social media intern to help grow our social media channels and further spread awareness about environmental sustainability.

 

The ideal intern needs to have three things:

 

• Be a dynamic self-starter and a fast learner.

• Strong organisational and admin skills, be familiar with standard office software, a good communicator, be happy to build and lead a development email campaign, support the senior team, be quick and responsive on email.

• An interest in the environment. Has watched Don't Look Up, follows Earthrise, might have Ministry of the Future on their reading list, wants to know more about Elizabeth Wathuti, and picks up litter when they visit the beach.

 

The Extreme Hangout is a platform to give young changemakers a voice on the environment. This short video will give you a flavour COP Recap Video.

 

We launched the Extreme Hangout at COP26 in Glasgow, took it to COP27 in Egypt, then COP28 in Dubai and are now making plans for COP29 in Azerbaijan, alongside a podcast and global event series. Our goal is to help shift the climate dial, by shaking up the climate conversation, popularising the movement and inspiring environmental action. Over the last two years we have worked with 300 speakers, 8000 visitors, 500,000 watchers, 5m audience and had a press reach of 100m.

About The Opportunity

 

Social media is an important part of our strategy. We are looking for a dedicated social media intern that has a passion for sustainability and the environment to assist with and help us entertain and inspire our community with incredible stories and content, help grow the social media pages and raise awareness about the issues, highlight the activism of young people around the world and raise awareness of what the EXTREME Hangout is doing.

We are looking for someone to come and focus on content editing.

• Finding incredible stories and content from around the world.

• Responding to comments and DMs on social media platforms.

• Write social media captions that speak to the Extreme Hangout target audience.

• Photo/video content editing.

• Assist in increasing followers and awareness of The Extreme Hangout on popular social media sites (Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram).

• Assist with Marketing efforts of the Extreme Hangout.​

What would make you standout? We are looking for someone who:

 

• Loves and has a passion for the environment and sustainability.

• Loves social media and is creative.

• Has at least 1 year of social media publishing experience.

• Has good experience with digital editing and publishing content.

• Demonstrates competence in writing and editing.

• Has experience with editing software.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Is involved in sustainability groups/projects/communities.

• Be a positive and energetic team player be someone we would want to go on a road trip across Europe; hang out at a mountain bike park with; and spend a day surfing!

 

THE INTERNSHIP IS 6 MONTHS LONG WITH A POSIBILITY OF BIENG EXTENDED.
