Extreme Hangout team Choose DGrade over Fast Fashion for COP28

The Extreme Hangout support all those striving in whatever way they can to drive positive change and encourage climate conversations and action.

Which is why the Extreme Hangout team are wearing DGrade’s sustainable polo shirts and lanyards throughout COP28 to highlight the perils of fast fashion and the possibility of sustainable manufacturing solutions for our clothing.

Dubai based, DGrade, makes sustainable clothing and accessories with Greenspun™ yarn, produced from recycled plastic bottles. The recycled flake from the bottles is then supplied to packaging manufacturers to support a circular economy. Since 2010, they have been supplying businesses with high-quality finished garments, according to their design requirements, all while saving precious resources and reducing carbon emissions by 55% to protect our environment.

The Extreme Hangout team’s 92 polo shirts were made from 25 plastic bottles each, removing a total of 2300 bottles from the landfills. A further 2000 Extreme Hangout lanyards were produced, each removing one 500ml plastic bottle from waste. Compared to conventional polyester yarn, DGrade’s Greenspun™ yarn saves 50% energy and 20% water and does not use oil in their manufacturing processes.

The team will be proudly showing-off their gear to visitors when they visit the Extreme Hangout pavilion. Head to the Green Zone of Al Forsan Park at COP28 from 10am-10pm as of tomorrow the 03rd December until the 12th December. Amazing and inspiring speakers from all the over the world will be taking to the stage for panel discussions, or leading workshops, exhibitions, fireside chats and performances.
